Traceability Tools and Digital Product Passports in Textile Supply Chains

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) takes first place in the buzzword league (93%). Cloud-hosted Platform, Multi-tenant system design and Role-based access control are very common system design features. Relational databases are still dominant over Graph databases at a 3 to 1 ratio. Automation gets 50% response rate AI/machine learning has 60% response rate. Physical tracers: 36 systems offer QR code tagging, 15 offer wireless reading (RFID/NFC)

Most systems offer a multitude of input/output options in parallel. The three dominating (around 90%) are Manual entry, Excel import/export and Inbound APIs. Outbound APIs are common but not offered by all (81%). Webhook type APIs are offered by 50%. Workflow automation is taking ground and now offered by 58%, but the “no-code” IFTTT type is still in minority with 17%. Most systems (70%) are offering some type of report export option.

Supplier input has been prioritized – 68% offers input possibilities past Tier 3. The DPP focus is also equally strong with 2/3 offering some kind of consumer facing data presentation. Similarly with external auditors etc for verification, with 69% offering solutions for them. Most tools (78%) have shared data entry between multiple supply chain actors rather than specializing on one tier for inputs.

Most systems (80% average) have supplier visibility, association between product and supplier and product composition capabilities. Fewer (53%) offer process and substance traceability options. Very few systems (only a handful known today) offer a deeper chemicals inventory, substance-level assessment and input management approach.
